Chapter 25
After getting the phone number, Bai He wasn't in a hurry to leave, as it was still early. He took Qin Yao to the cat entertainment area, the indoor space was very large, with many toys specially designed for cats to play with, and there was also an outdoor area.
The farmhouse was by the sea, and this cat store was built right by the sea, going out the back door led to the beach. The outdoor area was very large. Bai He took off his shoes and stepped into the sand, Qin Yao next to him hesitated, very unwilling to step into the sandy ground.
Bai He didn't notice Qin Yao's unwillingness, looking around, there were many people walking their pets on the beach, the cats seemed to have found a giant litter box, excitedly digging in the sand with their paws.
Bai He and Qin Yao walked slowly on the sand, he belatedly realized Qin Yao wasn't very excited, thinking a bit, he went inside and bought a bottle of water, and when he came back out, he found a fluffy Samoyed circling around Qin Yao.
The Samoyed was wagging its tail and circling around the Maine Coon, the Maine Cat sitting there coldly, its gaze as if it was looking at a silly dog.
Bai He walked over, he suddenly felt the dog looked familiar, the next moment, a familiar voice reached his ears.
"Bai He? What a coincidence!"
Qiu Yao was wearing a white spaghetti strap dress today, a beach hat on her head, and a pair of sunglasses on her nose, looking very chic.
She took off her sunglasses, squinting, examining the high-and-mighty Maine Coon on the ground, raising her brows: "Is this the cat you adopted?"
Qin Yao looked up, glaring at Qiu Yao.
"Yes, his name is Qin Yao," Bai He nodded.
Qiu Yao covered her mouth, trying to suppress a smile: "Qin Yao? Qin Yao is a great name, haha, the name sounds so grand, this little male cat must be quite capable, haha..."
Qiu Yao's laughter was not entirely pure, Bai He paused and asked, "How did you know Qin Yao is a male cat?"
"Diaper buddies, how could I not know?" Qiu Yao laughed casually, feeling a paw tap on her foot, she didn't restrain herself at all, telling the bewildered Bai He, "I guessed it, this cat looks like a total male, super male!"
"Hey, I've been thinking of you recently, didn't expect to run into you here! Are you here to play?" Qiu Yao suddenly changed the topic.
"Company team building." Bai He answered truthfully, "You should know, the one at Jin Yu."
"Oh." Qiu Yao nodded, reaching out to pet the fluffy white Samoyed that had come over, "I'm just here to play, you're team building for a few days? Come find me to play if you have time."
"Three days." Bai He remembered they had changed the team building time to three days.
While chatting with Qiu Yao, Bai He felt something heavy on his feet, looking down, the round Samoyed had its two front paws on his foot, sticking out its tongue and looking up at him.
Bai He's heart seemed to be struck, the Samoyed truly deserved its title of "smiling angel", it just looked at Bai He like that, its smile seemingly even brighter, like an angelic baby.
Bai He really liked fluffy things, he squatted down, reaching out to stroke the Samoyed's head, touching its ears, the soft, bouncy ears were irresistible, Bai He couldn't help but poke them with his fingers, the fluffy Samoyed felt Bai He's affection and nuzzled its head against Bai He's hand.
Bai He crinkled his eyes, suddenly a paw pad pressed on his arm, he was startled, finding Qin Yao had burrowed into his embrace, and slapped the Samoyed's face right in front of him, the fluffy Samoyed quickly closed its eyes, retreating a few steps with a pitiful whine, looking at Qiu Yao.
Bai He blinked, looking down at the Maine Coon in his arms, a bit surprised, until the Maine Cot turned around and meowed at him, the sound lingering, as if complaining.
"Pfft—"
Qiu Yao couldn't hold back, covering her mouth and shaking with laughter, Bai He finally snapped out of his daze, he raised his hand to soothe Qin Yao's back, chuckling lightly: "Alright, alright, Qin Yao is still my favorite, don't be angry."
Qin Yao felt hot in the face, he felt utterly bewildered.
Qiu Yao finally stopped laughing, but didn't completely stop, she reached out and petted the aggrieved fluffy Samoyed: "Your cat is really lively, just like a person, the jealousy is quite strong."
Qin Yao turned his head and glared at Qiu Yao again.
Qiu Yao acted as if she didn't see it, continuing to speak with her mouth wide open: "Oh right, I told you before that Qin Yao also raises a cat, right? His cat is not at all clingy, it's cold and pretentious, tsk tsk tsk, this cat is really special..."
Bai He felt very confused about Qiu Yao's descriptive words, he didn't dwell on it much, while soothing Qin Yao, he caught Qiu Yao's words: "I remember Qin Yao also raised a Maine Coon?"
"Yes, yes, yes." Qiu Yao laughed: "His cat is just like yours, I see them and they're practically identical, you're Qin Yao's friend, one day invite him out and have him bring the cat along—"
Before she finished, her toes were stepped on by the Maine Coon again, Qiu Yao didn't get angry, hooking her scarlet lips and looking at the cat: "Little thing, your strength is quite impressive."
Bai He noticed, reaching out to grab Qin Yao's paw, apologizing to Qiu Yao.
"No problem." Qiu Yao waved her hand, bowing her head and smiling at the Maine Coon: "The cat with a temper, being raised by you, Bai He, you're really blessed."
She then went to grab the Samoyed's leash, bidding farewell to Bai He: "I'll be going first, let's play together if there's a chance."
"Okay, goodbye." Bai He watched Qiu Yao leave.
It was still early, he had also booked a cat SPA for Qin Yao, there were three cats ahead of them, the masseuse was a professional pet massage therapist.
When it was Qin Yao's turn, Bai He sent the Maine Coon in, he didn't see any resentment in Qin Yao's gloomy gaze, after Qin Yao was taken in, Bai He received a call, seeing a "please keep quiet" sign on the wall, he turned and walked outside, finding a secluded place to answer the call.
An unfamiliar number, after connecting, the other side didn't speak, Bai He stood quietly by the wall, his gaze fixed on the distance, he was standing in the shade, stepping forward would expose him to the strong ultraviolet rays.
In the mid-afternoon, the weather that had been just right just now seemed to have become more scorching, the heat made his skin feel scorched, Bai He flinched a bit, suddenly, his cerebral cortex seemed to be jolted by electric currents, the objects in front of him blurred into a hazy image, Bai He staggered a few steps, almost losing his balance.
After leaning against the wall for a while, the objects in front of him finally slowly came into focus, then, an explosive scent rushed towards his nerves, Bai He's heartbeat suddenly accelerated, his instinctive vigilance immediately took control of his limbs.
He abruptly turned his head, staring towards the alley, instantly, he saw two hands, two white hands, crawling out of the alley, but then the hands, still not exposed to the sunlight, were ruthlessly pulled back into the deep dark alley.
Bai He's heart sank, he almost couldn't think, he raised his leg and rushed towards that direction, all the physical discomfort was completely forgotten.
He saw clearly, on those white arms was a red rope, exactly the same as the one on Yi Chen's hand.

ReplyDeleteIt seems like there is something missing between 25 and 26. There is a big scene jump.
ReplyDeleteI will review this, but I think there's no jump. I remember double checking this one because I thought at first there was a jump but it's only because he remembered his past.
