Chapter 32: Yan Xiansheng's Dinner
Yan Xiansheng’s gaze scanned the surroundings of the room before settling back on Gu Qinglan. Gu Qinglan’s face had turned red from choking, and no matter how delicious the food was, he could no longer taste it. He must have been poisoned by Yan Xiansheng, which caused his taste buds to deteriorate.
“Yan Xiansheng, have you had dinner?” Gu Qinglan only thought to ask after finishing almost all of his porridge.
Yan Xiansheng’s gaze was unexpectedly gentle. “Not yet, I haven’t even finished my work.”
He sat in the chair, occasionally sending messages on his phone or making calls. Normally, Yan Xiansheng worked overtime until midnight. Had he left work early today because of him?
Gu Qinglan pushed the crab roe buns toward him.
“My dinner is not here,” Yan Xiansheng pushed them back.
Gu Qinglan thought that made sense. With how wealthy Yan Xiansheng was, could he really eat something as simple as this?
This was the first time Gu Qinglan had eaten authentic crab roe buns to his heart’s content. Yan Xiansheng poured him a glass of water.
After finishing the water, Gu Qinglan sat on the bed, wrapped in a blanket, and scooted backward.
“Why are you so afraid of me? Do you think I’ll eat you?”
Gu Qinglan thought about it carefully. Yan Xiansheng wasn’t really strict with him at all. He didn’t know why, but he was just scared of Yan Xiansheng. Was it because of the suppression of pheromones?
Yan Xiansheng pressed one hand on the bed and leaned closer to him. “Come here, I’ll massage you.”
Gu Qinglan had no choice but to kneel on the bed and slowly inch his way over, like a moving pyramid—or more accurately, like a penguin, Yan Xiansheng thought.
Pulling the blanket off him, Yan Xiansheng saw that he was still wearing his pajamas. Slightly satisfied, he lifted Gu Qinglan’s shirt and began massaging his waist. Gu Qinglan bit his lip; it still hurt a bit.
“Did I hurt you last night?”
“...” Gu Qinglan’s face turned red.
Today, Gu Qinglan was especially shy. He no longer had the initiative he did during his heat period, and Yan Xiansheng couldn’t help but laugh.
Gu Qinglan’s ears immediately turned red. He blinked and buried his head into the pillow.
Yan Xiansheng ruffled his hair.
“Aren’t you mad at me, Yan Xiansheng?” Gu Qinglan finally turned his head to catch his breath.
“What are you referring to?”
“Because I kept lying. I said I was a Beta, but I’m actually an Omega.”
It seemed that Yan Xiansheng took a long time to respond. “I’ve known for a while.”
Gu Qinglan turned his head and stared at him in a daze. So, Yan Xiansheng had known all along.
With both hands propped on the pillow, Yan Xiansheng loomed over him, trapping Gu Qinglan beneath him. Their faces grew closer, noses nearly touching. Gu Qinglan could see the captivating allure in Yan Xiansheng’s eyes, and his heart began to race.
Although it was only a temporary mark, how could an Omega resist the Alpha in front of him during his heat period? The scent of violets and wine filled the air—Yan Xiansheng’s pheromones were impossible to resist.
Already in the heat period, Gu Qinglan grew more flustered and blinked. “Uh, Yan Xiansheng, how about I make you some noodles?” He tried to change the subject.
“No need, I’d rather enjoy my dinner in bed.” Yan Xiansheng kissed his slightly flushed cheek and slowly moved down to his lips. His lips carried the rich fragrance of wine. Gu Qinglan was a bit stunned, feeling the kiss gradually deepen at the corner of his lips, their tongues touching. The minty coolness of Yan Xiansheng’s kiss was incredibly soothing. Yan Xiansheng, satisfied, ruffled his hair again.
The kiss continued. Gu Qinglan didn’t know how to respond, so he instinctively raised his head and closed his eyes. His hands, at some point, had already grabbed onto Yan Xiansheng’s collar, as if holding onto something precious. He liked this kind of kiss, his lips and tongue surrounded, as if being protected in Yan Xiansheng’s warm embrace. It felt so safe.
There was still a small scab on the gland at his neck, and Gu Qinglan shivered. His gland was young and unmarked, as he hadn't used many inhibitors, having differentiated late.
Though Gu Qinglan had dated in college, it hadn’t gone beyond holding hands and hugging. They had long been in a long-distance relationship, and eventually, his ex-boyfriend broke up with him. As a result, Gu Qinglan had little experience with intimate matters—his only experiences were with Yan Xiansheng.
With Yan Xiansheng’s pheromones still lingering in his body, his instincts had already surrendered, drawing him closer to the man. But a part of Gu Qinglan still felt a little resentful, feeling like one of those Omegas who, because of their inherent weakness, were toyed with by Alphas.
“Yan Xiansheng...” Do you just want to play with me? Forgive his lack of eloquence; he could only think of this crude and simple question. However, he couldn’t bring himself to say it. Deep down, he believed that Yan Xiansheng was different from others. To him, Yan Xiansheng was someone special.
“What do you want to say?” Yan Xiansheng’s hoarse voice was surprisingly gentle. Gu Qinglan’s heart tightened. He opened his mouth and, in a panic, asked, “Did you bathe me last night, Yan Xiansheng?”
“Mm, I washed you thoroughly,” Yan Xiansheng replied.
Those words sounded so familiar. The last time he was drunk…
Gu Qinglan was startled. So, every time he got drunk, it was Yan Xiansheng who bathed him?
At this moment, Yan Xiansheng had no interest in discussing this. He kissed Gu Qinglan’s earlobe and whispered, “Let’s focus on the real business.”
Gu Qinglan’s lips parted slightly, his face flushed crimson, lost in Yan Xiansheng’s magnetic voice and the intoxicating scent of violets.
Gu Qinglan pressed his hands against Yan Xiansheng’s shoulders—a gesture that seemed like he was playing hard to get, but in reality, he was just flustered and didn’t know where to place his hands.
This was the first time Gu Qinglan had been with Yan Xiansheng while fully conscious. His mind raced, filled with all sorts of chaotic thoughts, but his body was honest, moving closer, tilting his head for more, wrapping his arms around Yan Xiansheng’s shoulders, and pulling him even closer. The room was thick with the scents of mint and violets.
When he woke up again, it was already morning. Gu Qinglan woke up parched, his throat dry and hoarse as if he’d swallowed a desert. His body felt soft and limp, devoid of strength.
He struggled to sit up, drinking almost all the water that remained from the night before, leaving just a little. He glanced at the man beside him—the culprit. It was a miracle that such a small bed could fit two grown men, and so last night, Yan Xiansheng had held him close while they slept.
Gu Qinglan slowly lay back down, feeling an increased level of soreness in his waist. Just as he lay down, he saw Yan Xiansheng open his eyes. Gu Qinglan quickly shut his eyes, pretending to be asleep.
He heard the sounds of Yan Xiansheng getting dressed. Gu Qinglan peeked through half-closed eyes and saw the fresh kiss marks all over Yan Xiansheng’s body. He remembered last night’s events clearly—he had definitely been the one to leave those marks.
Recalling the passion of the previous night, Gu Qinglan’s face flushed involuntarily. Suddenly, the room fell quiet. Gu Qinglan opened his eyes in confusion, only for his gaze to meet Yan Xiansheng’s dark, amused eyes. In that moment of calm, his heartbeat raced, and he felt like Yan Xiansheng could pull him deep into the abyss with just a glance.
“Morning, Yan Xiansheng…” Gu Qinglan’s voice was barely a whisper, hoarse as ever.
