His Pheromone Smells Like Catnip Chapter 46 part 1

 Chapter 46 part 1

The sensation was soft, a bit unusual.

Bai He instinctively tightened his fingers that were buried in the soft fur. Hearing Qin Yao's slight intake of breath, he abruptly withdrew his hand, standing up awkwardly. The tools on the carpet clinked as he moved.

One standing, one sitting. The small dorm room went quiet again.

Bai He glanced at Qin Yao’s tail. The tip was tapping the carpet, and it seemed like Qin Yao was in a good mood.

For some reason, Bai He felt an inexplicable irritation. He crouched down to gather the tools and said, “I’m going to sleep. You should head back.”

The tapping of the tail gradually slowed down. Qin Yao gave a soft hum and suddenly asked, “Are you less angry now?”

Bai He froze for a moment. Instead of answering, he said, “I’ve already told you, we’re just friends.”

His voice turned cold as he calmly looked at Qin Yao. “And that’s all we’ll ever be. I’m not in the mood to talk about this anymore, so don’t bring it up.”

His message was clear. Qin Yao even felt that if he kept pushing, Bai He might get angry again, and it would be hard to maintain even their fragile friendship.

Bai He was soft-hearted because of his naturally gentle personality. But clearly, Bai He wasn’t someone who could be easily coaxed with a few words or small gifts.

Bai He had his own boundaries, and Qin Yao had almost made the mistake of assuming that Bai He had already forgiven him.

“Alright, I understand.” Qin Yao stood up. He quietly tucked away his tail and ears, showing a brief look of disappointment. Before leaving, he turned around and gave Bai He a gentle smile. “See you tomorrow. Goodnight.”

Qin Yao was strong at his core. He hadn’t given up yet.

The door closed softly behind him. The small dorm suddenly felt a bit more empty. Bai He stood still on the carpet for a moment, then snapped out of it and continued tidying up the medical supplies. As he passed by his desk, his eyes instinctively glanced at the computer.

It was peak time for evening live streams, and in two minutes, it would be midnight. The computer on the desk had the live streaming interface wide open. The camera was still on, the microphone was still on, and the screen was filled with flashing gift effects. The number of viewers had already surpassed 100,000 and was still climbing.

The stream titled Good Night had soared to second place in the sleep-aid category and was about to take the top spot.

Bai He stared at the streaming interface in stunned silence, his mind blanking out.

At that moment, he was carrying a medical kit and had just passed through the camera’s field of view. Under the bright lights, his dazed expression in his pajamas was captured entirely by the livestream. The comments and gift reactions exploded in response.

“OMG, so cute!!!”

“What is this? A top-tier omega!!! The streamer is definitely an omega!!!”

“I just passed by, but wow, I’m stunned by the beauty!!”

“Wait, what did that guy just call the streamer? Bai He? What a beautiful name!!”

“Little Bai Bao!!!”

Bai He stood frozen for a few seconds before he quickly put down the medical kit, ran over, and blocked the camera. Without even trying to lower his voice, he said, “Sorry, I forgot to end the stream. Goodnight, everyone. Sweet dreams.”

With that, he mercilessly ended the stream.

The computer screen finally went silent. Bai He slumped into his chair, his body feeling drained. He furrowed his brows, trying to gather his thoughts.

How could he have forgotten to turn off the stream?

His memory rewound to when he was drinking water earlier. He had meant to end the stream in a few minutes, but then Qin Yao, who was playing with cotton balls on the carpet, had caught his attention.

To be precise, it was Qin Yao’s cat ears and tail that had caught his attention.

Only now did Bai He realize that Qin Yao had probably done it on purpose. Why else would he suddenly let his ears and tail out?

It was definitely intentional!

Bai He checked the streaming platform's backend and saw that his followers had increased by over 20,000.

He sighed in frustration. Forgetting to end the stream was definitely his mistake, but luckily the camera’s angle was limited. Bai He fast-forwarded through the recording to check, and thankfully, there was no footage of Qin Yao. Just as he was about to breathe a sigh of relief, he noticed that the audio had been fully recorded.

Bai Lu’s voice was mostly muffled due to the distance from the door to the desk, but Bai He and Qin Yao’s conversation had been captured completely, and very clearly.

Bai He replayed it twice, ensuring that no sensitive information had been leaked, and finally felt a bit more at ease.

Still, this incident had inadvertently dragged Qin Yao into the situation, so Bai He needed to let him know.

Bai He’s streams typically fluctuated around 10,000 viewers, sometimes only a few thousand. This time, he had been unexpectedly pushed to the platform’s front page, and he couldn’t quite understand why.

After scheduling the next stream, Bai He went to check the comments on the recorded stream.

He had a habit of recording his streams, as it made it easier to review them later.

Fast-forwarding through the recording, Bai He started watching from the part where he had stopped scratching the cat scratching post.

He hadn’t expected that the reason viewers had stayed in the stream was simply because they were bored.

Just listening to his and Qin Yao’s conversation, people had started speculating about their relationship, shipping them, and even creating fan theories. Initially, the comments were still somewhat normal, but when Qin Yao asked, “Do you want to touch my tail?”, the tone of the chat took a sharp turn.

The stream’s atmosphere suddenly became uncontrollable. The platform moderator appeared in the chat three times, and Bai He’s stream had narrowly avoided being shut down.

“Tail? What tail? Damn, this couple is getting kinky!”

“Is this a proper tail?”

“Really? Do proper tails grow on people?”

“No way, that guy’s voice sounded so good. Could it be that tail?”

“How do we know our adorable streamer isn’t the one on top? Haven’t you heard of a soft but dominant omega?”

“But Bai He doesn’t seem like an alpha. I don’t even think he’s a beta!”

“Broaden your imagination. That guy just asked if Bai He wanted to touch the tail. He never said who the tail was for!”

“Wow, mind blown.”

“Oh my god, I see it now!!”

“Everyone’s talking about a toy tail, right? Haha, you could even be bolder. I’m very happy, but I won’t say more.”

“You’re bolder? How much bolder can you get?”

“Haha, I get it, I get it. But I can’t say it, or my account will get banned.”

“Those who understand are already dead from cuteness…”

Bai He exited the recording, put down his phone, and covered his face with his hands.

After reading the comments, Bai He confirmed that Qin Yao’s name and appearance hadn’t been revealed, and he finally felt a bit relieved.

It didn’t matter to Bai He if he appeared on camera; he didn’t care about that. The world was big, and it wasn’t like anyone he knew would see a livestreaming mishap, right?

With that thought, he reassured himself. Bai He took his phone, climbed into bed, and turned off the lights to sleep.

A few moments later, he picked up his phone again and opened his messaging app.

Suddenly, a string of notifications popped up, startling Bai He so much that he dropped his phone, which hit him square in the face.

Grimacing, he rubbed his nose as he picked up the phone, reading the messages.

Xia You: [Who! Who was that guy! Little Bai He, you’re still young! Your big sister doesn’t approve!!!]

Xia You: [Don’t touch him!! Crafty alpha tricks!! Little Bai He, you’ll be eaten alive!!!]

Kong Yizhou: [Whoa~ That guy’s a beastman, right? Let me tell you, in the beastman community, there’s a saying: letting someone touch your tail is basically a marriage proposal.]

Kong Yizhou: [By the way, that guy’s voice sounds familiar… thinking…]

Zhao Linyue: [Little Bai He, you forgot to end your stream.]

Team Leader: [Yi Chen says to stay safe.]

Bai He’s brain short-circuited. He placed his phone on his chest, his gaze unfocused. It took him a long while to gather his thoughts. Finally, he picked up the phone again and saw another message from Li Youzi.

Youzi-jie: [You didn’t turn off your stream.]

Youzi-jie: [By the way, everyone at the office listens to sleep-aid streams to relieve stress. Zhao Linyue was the one who found your channel and shared it with us, so everyone’s probably been watching. I didn’t expect it to be you.]

Youzi-jie: [Next time, remember to turn off the stream. That guy’s an alpha, right? He seems pretty sly. Be careful, kiddo.]
