Chapter 66: "Baby, give me some pheromones..."
Ai Li didn't come knocking.
After everything was over, Shen Zhuo, with his fingers still weak, opened his phone and saw Ai Li's messages.
[Ai Li: Saw Du Zhiwei, let's meet in the afternoon]
[Ai Li: Afternoon shooting class feels pretty basic]
[Ai Li: I'll ask if we can skip it]
Half an hour later...
[Ai Li: They said if we've met the course standards, we can skip it!]
The moisture on Shen Zhuo's eyelashes hadn't faded yet. He had just been carried by the man to take a shower, and his knees were still weak.
[Shen Zhuo: You're not going?]
Two seconds later, the screen flickered.
[Ai Li: Yo yo yo (raises eyebrow and smiles.gpj)]
[Ai Li: Nope, you know my shooting class skills, even Uncle Ning praised me]
At this time, Du Xun came out of the bathroom after his shower.
"Can you skip the practical class?" Shen Zhuo asked, looking up.
"You can." Du Xun sat down by the bed, gently flipping Shen Zhuo over and massaging his waist.
"As long as you meet the graduation standards and pass regular assessments, you can skip it."
In Du Xun's view was a head full of fluffy hair, and he chuckled, bending down to plant a kiss on it.
"But the practical classes in the S class aren't the main focus. Once enrolled, the S class is managed directly by the military and assigned assistance tasks. This is the basis for graduation evaluations."
Shen Zhuo raised an eyebrow.
He hadn't heard about this.
"How come I never heard of this?"
Du Xun smiled.
"This is a secret known to the main evaluators. But as an S5 Omega, you have the right to know everything about S5 Alphas."
Shen Zhuo turned over, locking his legs around Du Xun's hand, which hadn't withdrawn yet.
His soft, smooth legs slid up and down suggestively.
As expected, Du Xun's gaze deepened.
Du Xun: "Class is about to start."
Shen Zhuo propped himself up on his elbows, lifting his upper body slightly. He grabbed Du Xun's tie and slowly leaned back.
When the boy lay down on the bed, the man was pulled into a kneeling position over him.
"Know everything about S5?" The boy looked at him.
A slight smile bloomed on his lips, as stunning as a night-blooming lotus in full bloom.
Du Xun stared at him for two seconds.
He suddenly reached out, wrapped his arm around the boy’s waist, and lowered his head to kiss him.
Blocking all of Shen Zhuo's words with that kiss.
It wasn't until Shen Zhuo's eyes were watery, and he was panting, leaning weakly in the man's arms, that Du Xun dropped a gentle kiss by his ear.
"I'll tell you everything. It's just not the right time yet."
"Du Xun will never deceive Shen Zhuo, not even about the smallest thing."
The man's voice was as solemn as a vow:
"Never."
In the afternoon, Du Xun had to return to the military.
In fact, he should have returned right after class, but he managed to carve out some time to return to the dorm with Shen Zhuo.
When Shen Zhuo arrived at the shooting range in his training uniform, Ai Li was fully geared up, shouldering a sniper rifle, lying prone and aiming at a bottle cap a thousand meters away.
Next to him, the teacher conducting the class was recording his performance.
The teacher's face showed shock, taking a long time to react before jotting down a series of numbers in the notebook.
The boy’s light tea-colored hair shimmered golden under the sunlight, exuding a quality quite different from his usual playful demeanor. He casually and skillfully reloaded the ammo.
The moment his calm, sea-blue eyes lifted from behind the scope, another bullet fired.
The moving bottle cap a thousand meters away was pierced cleanly through the center.
The real-time electronic monitor on the side of the shooting range displayed this moment.
"Holy..."
"That's insane."
Around him were several S-class Alphas, all speechless.
After firing the last shot, Ai Li stood up, casually carrying his gun in one hand and shaking out his other arm.
The teacher raised a hand in acknowledgment, looking at Ai Li with undisguised admiration:
"Hitting moving targets from fifty to a thousand meters, all hits."
It was only then that Ai Li spotted Shen Zhuo. He waved excitedly.
"You don't need to come anymore, but you'll have to retest every semester, and if your performance falls below today's, you'll have to attend the class."
Ai Li nodded. "Got it, teacher."
Ai Li returned his gun, walked over to Shen Zhuo, and pulled out two candies from his pocket, handing one to Shen Zhuo after unwrapping them.
"Want to give it a try? I think you'll pass too."
Shen Zhuo wasn't planning to show off like Ai Li.
The tall tree catches the wind.
"No thanks," the boy said. "What are you planning to do since you're skipping class?"
Ai Li winked at him. "I'm heading to the military to find Ji Wei Shen."
"He said he'd give me five days' worth of pheromones."
Shen Zhuo: "Oh."
Ai Li straightened up. "I can also help you keep an eye on Commander Du."
He raised an arm, making a defensive gesture.
"I won't let anyone with bad intentions get close to him!"
Shen Zhuo: "I really appreciate that."
Although Shen Zhuo said he wanted to attend class properly, since he'd been familiar with firearms from the age of six, when Shen Xu Yin held him in his arms and taught him to pull the trigger, there wasn't much for him to learn.
Typically, common families, and even royals, were prohibited from handling firearms before entering the military academy.
But Shen Xu Yin, back in his younger days, had a rebellious streak.
Even when carrying a child to the shooting range, no one dared to say a word.
At most, they'd end up with Jiang Yue Ning dragging him home to kneel on a washboard.
So when Shen Zhuo tried shooting, the teacher immediately told him that he could leave class.
That afternoon, there was only a three-hour practical training course. Shen Zhuo, bored, thought about going to the library.
Halfway there, he bumped into Feng Mu Ya.
The girl had changed into more action-friendly clothes, with the blonde Fu Qi Shang following behind her.
As Shen Zhuo's gaze slowly met Feng Mu Ya's, Fu Qi Shang frowned and spoke first.
"Good dogs don't block the way."
Shen Zhuo lowered his lashes, standing still.
Feng Mu Ya's lips curled mockingly.
"What, he's not by your side today?"
Shen Zhuo lazily lifted his gaze and took a few steps forward, as if he couldn't be bothered to listen to any of it. "Excuse me."
Fu Qi Shang stretched out his arm to block him.
"The princess called you, didn't you hear?!"
Shen Zhuo turned his head, locking eyes with Fu Qi Shang.
Fu Qi Shang was slightly taken aback, his eyes filling with hostility.
"Shen Zhuo, I'm giving you some face."
"Face," considering Shen Zhuo's noble background from a military family, was a significant gesture.
And being an S5, his father said he was not someone they should make enemies of.
In other words, Shen Zhuo was someone they should befriend.
His mistake was associating with someone like Ai Li, who had such a lowly status, lowering his own worth.
Fu Qi Shang didn’t understand why anyone would willingly lower themselves like that.
Willingly mix with commoners.
"Use your own brain to figure it out." Shen Zhuo withdrew his gaze, his tone inexplicably calm. "A person is not an accessory of their status."
The next sentence was directed at Feng Mu Ya:
"No one has the power to control everything."
Feng Mu Ya sneered. "My mother has never been denied anything she wants. Do you really think you can resist?"
Shen Zhuo glanced at her but said nothing more.
He turned and walked away.
Even after Shen Zhuo left, Fu Qi Shang stood there with a frown.
He snorted softly. "Your Highness, let's go."
Shen Zhuo found it strange that Feng Mu Ya hadn't made a move.
Even stranger, when he saw Feng Mu Ya, he recalled the queen’s behavior—
There was something off about it.
Shen Zhuo went to the library to look for some books on economics.
He hadn't forgotten what Du Xun had told him earlier.
He needed to carve out a safe haven in the business world as well.
But he had to start from scratch.
In his eighteen years, aside from military books, the only other things Shen Zhuo had been exposed to were the fairy tale picture books Jiang Yue Ning had read to him when he was a child.
So even though Shen Zhuo was a fast learner, in an unfamiliar field and without a teacher, his progress wasn’t quick.
So when Du Xun texted him at 7 PM asking where he was, the boy closed the book full of professional terms with a long sigh.
Shen Zhuo: Let’s... stop here for now.
On the way back to the dorm, Shen Zhuo considered whether he should hire a professional teacher.
But after he returned to the dorm, Shen Zhuo forgot all about it.
Because Du Xun's kiss was fierce.
So fierce it felt like he wanted to devour him whole.
The overwhelming scent of rosemary filled the room.
Like a tidal wave, wild and unstoppable.
It overtook every inch of the cold scent of the night-blooming cereus, inside and out.
This was a side of Du Xun he had never seen before.
Those gray-blue eyes were full of bloodshot veins and a dark, stormy light.
At first, Shen Zhuo thought Du Xun was worried because he had been out too long.
But as the lights overhead flickered like waves in a storm, Shen Zhuo suddenly and inexplicably calmed down.
Du Xun held his wrists above his head, his legs also pinned down.
Shen Zhuo felt like a small boat in a storm, with no control over anything.
But his mind was clear.
"Let go of me... Du Xun..."
Shen Zhuo twisted his wrists, his tear-filled eyes looking into the man's stormy gaze.
Du Xun didn't respond.
He even tightened his grip on Shen Zhuo's wrists.
"Du Xun, Du Xun..."
Shen Zhuo sensed something was wrong.
This wasn’t like Du Xun.
Shen Zhuo furrowed his brow, withdrawing his pheromones. He decided they needed to talk.
But before he could say anything, Du Xun interrupted him.
"Don't... reject me."
Du Xun's voice was hoarse, almost pleading.
The man lowered his head, burying his face in the boy’s neck, only to find the scent of night-blooming cereus was fading.
"Don't hold it back, let me smell it..."
He nuzzled into the warmth of Shen Zhuo's neck, almost begging, "Baby, give me some pheromones..."
The scent of rosemary in the room was so thick it almost felt tangible.
Though it was comforting.
Something was definitely wrong.
For the first time, Shen Zhuo said something Du Xun couldn't refuse.
"I'm in pain."
As expected, the man immediately froze.
Shen Zhuo pushed him away slightly, cupping Du Xun’s face.
The man's hair fell over his eyes, hiding his emotions.
"What happened?" Shen Zhuo tried to keep his voice, still tinged with sobs, calm and gentle.
"Tell me."
Du Xun didn't speak. He pursed his lips, then lowered his head to kiss Shen Zhuo's lips.
A few seconds later, he kissed him again.
"I'm sorry for hurting you."
Du Xun finally lifted his eyes.
Shen Zhuo saw they were filled with bloodshot veins, shadowed with something terrifying.
At that moment, he faintly caught a scent...
The smell of blood.
What no my baby you can’t be in pain ππ
