Chapter 16
September 5th, the day Y University starts.
On the tree-lined avenue, some students were preparing for the freshman welcome activities.
Yu Li dragged his suitcase through the crowd, his expression dazed as he made his way to the dormitory.
It's still early, and the other three roommates haven't arrived yet.
Yu Li casually made his own bed, putting on clean sheets, and climbed up to take a nap.
After being woken up by that dream in the early morning, he just couldn't fall back asleep. Now back in the familiar dorm environment, the drowsiness came over him.
But this sleep wasn't very restful either, Yu Li kept having unpleasant dreams.
Around noon, he woke up drowsily, hearing the voices of Lin Jiafan and Xu Bin.
He pulled back the bed curtain and poked his head out, "You're here."
The busy Lin Jiafan got quite a fright, his head almost bumping the bed frame above.
"Ouch, you scared me to death! Oh, it's you." Lin Jiafan patted his chest.
Yu Li nodded, "I came early."
"Living locally is so convenient, not to mention staying at the Yan residence, with a driver to pick you up." Xu Bin, who was organizing the wardrobe, casually commented.
The four of them had a dorm group chat, and a while ago Yan Sui had casually mentioned that Yu Li was staying at his house.
Thinking of this, Lin Jiafan looked around the room with a puzzled gaze, asking, "Yu Li, Yan Sui didn't come?"
Yu Li's hand on the bed curtain slowly tightened, and he pressed his lips, saying, "I don't know, I came by myself."
"Yan Sui has already completed all his credits, so he probably won't be coming to the dorm anymore." Xu Bin closed the wardrobe door and glanced at Yu Li.
The young man's complexion was a bit pale, with dark circles under his eyes, clearly having not slept well.
Looks like he had a fight with Yan Sui, it can't be easy staying at someone else's place.
Xu Bin calmly averted his gaze and went to get a basin to prepare for cleaning.
"Oh right, Yu Li, you've also completed your credits, are you planning to do an internship or take the postgraduate exam this year?"
Lin Jiafan spoke, then clicked his tongue in frustration, "My family wants me to take the postgraduate exam, but I don't even know where to start. I envy you, your grades these three years have been so good, you must have a chance for guaranteed admission?"
Yu Li had already climbed down the ladder.
Hearing Lin Jiafan's words, he calmly said, "I refused."
Last semester, the counselor had talked to him about guaranteed admission.
But his family conditions were not good, so Yu Li wanted to start working and earning money as soon as possible, so he had refused.
Lin Jiafan was taken aback.
Everyone knew that Yu Li's family conditions were not good, and when he was choosing his major, he was told that being a programmer could earn good money, so he chose software engineering.
But Lin Jiafan didn't expect Yu Li to give up the chance for guaranteed admission.
The usually boastful Lin Jiafan hesitated for a moment, setting aside his complaints, and said, "Although it's a bit of a pity, we don't have to necessarily take the civil service or postgraduate exam."
"Didn't you win the first prize in the National University Student New Programming Competition in your sophomore year? You can use that to go to some of the major internet companies, the salaries there are also high."
Yu Li gave a small smile.
"En, we'll see."
He hadn't even untangled the clues from yesterday's events yet, he'll think about it slowly in the evening.
Yu Li also went to get hot water for cleaning.
In the afternoon, Yan Sui suddenly came to the dorm.
Yan Sui's credits were also complete, and Yu Li had originally thought he wouldn't be coming to school anymore, so he was a bit surprised when Yan Sui pushed the door open and came in.
But Yu Li just gave him a fleeting glance before turning his attention back to the information on his computer.
Lin Jiafan and Xu Bin weren't here at the moment, so the dorm was only occupied by Yu Li.
Yan Sui's gaze swept around the dorm, and he pulled his chair over to sit next to Yu Li, saying, "I woke up at noon and found you weren't here, so I knew you must have come to school."
Yu Li's hand pausing on the mouse.
He slowly turned his head, observing Yan Sui's expression.
No different from before, still smiling innocently, carefree.
It seems Yan Shiting didn't tell Yan Sui about their argument last night.
Perhaps considering that Yu Li and Yan Sui are good friends, not telling Yan Sui is to avoid affecting their friendship.
But Yu Li no longer wants to have any more entanglement with them.
He turned his head back to look at the information, casually saying, "Your credits are complete, you don't have to come to the dorm."
Yan Sui touched the tip of his nose, "I'm going to take the postgraduate exam too, it's more conducive to the study atmosphere here at school."
"Postgraduate exam?" Yu Li was stunned again.
Grandma Yan has always been urging Yan Sui to join the family company, yet Yan Sui chose to take the postgraduate exam.
"Yeah, since I haven't decided what I want to do in the future, might as well try the postgraduate or civil service exam like everyone else."
Yan Sui looked at Yu Li.
He knew about Yu Li refusing the guaranteed admission last semester, "Yu Li, if you want to find an internship, why don't you come to Yan Corportion?"
Yu Li put away the information, typing a line of code, "No need, I can't just rely on you for everything."
Yan Sui paused, then nodded in agreement, "That's right, it's better if you get in on your own merits. If I intervene, who knows what people in the company might say."
"I believe in you!"
Yan Sui then cheerfully hummed a tune as he went to tidy up his own bed.
Yu Li stared at the few lines of code on the computer, silent for a long time.
Although he had decided not to have any more contact with the Yan family, actually putting it into practice was still quite difficult.
After all, Yan Sui knows nothing, so his sudden change in attitude must be puzzling to him.
Speaking of which, the information he was just looking at was also found by Yan Sui.
Yu Li furrowed his brow and sighed softly.
Alright, just act normal. Once he finds an internship and graduates, he won't have much contact with Yan Sui anymore.
