Part 3
In the afternoon there were classes, Bai He placed the cat supplies sent by Zhou Luoluo in the living room. After preparing water and cat food for Ling Ding, he went out.
Bai He squatted at the entrance, the moment the door closed, the room suddenly became quiet, followed by a slight movement accompanied by the scent of brandy. The shirtless Qin Yao stood in the living room, and his muscular physique stood out in the small living room. His bright cat eyes still flickering slightly in the dim room after changing back to human form. He lowered his gaze and looked at his own body, the wounds were almost healed.
He did not take Bai He's clothes without permission, that would be impolite, and he probably couldn't even wear them. There was a landline phone in the house, Qin Yao called for a clothes delivery, the clothes were sent quickly and placed at the door, he changed into the clothes and left the place.
In the evening, in the villa area of S City, Qin Yao came back home at dinnertime. The family sitting around the table all looked up at him, with his little dad, Nan Yu, being the first to call out to him.
"Qin Yao, have you eaten?"
"No, I haven't." Qin Yao changed his shoes and went to the kitchen to wash his hands and serve himself some food. He then came and sat down next to Qin Dian Dian: "Is this such a sumptuous meal today? Did Dad make it?"
His father Qin Wei raised his eyelids to look at Qin Yao briefly, then lowered his eyes and said in a flat tone: "You seem to be in a good mood."
At these words, all the people at the table turned to look at Qin Yao, who was wolfing down his food. Grandpa Qin smiled happily: "Have you made some friends?"
"Where have you been these past two days?" Nan Yu also asked.
"Brother, do you have a boyfriend?" Qin Dian Dian asked, not understanding, but knowing that his brother was ill and could only be cured if he had a boyfriend.
"......" Qin Yao stopped eating and put down his bowl and chopsticks, hugging himself and shrugging with a smile as he saw the varying expressions on the faces of the people at the table: "I just had a good sleep, why are you all making such a fuss?"
"It's not easy for you to have a good sleep," Nan Yu frowned: "Is that child an omega or a beta? You can't just play around, you know? If there's anything serious, you better treat them properly!"
The topic had become serious, and this time Grandpa Qin didn't say anything. Qin Wei put down his chopsticks, silently looking at Qin Yao, his eyes calm, as if interrogating him.
Qin Yao sighed and skipped the part about being ambushed, and just told them about being brought back home.
"So you just hugged and slept all night?" Nan Yu was surprised.
"Are you disappointed, Dad?" Qin Yao smiled: "We really didn't do anything, I don't know him well, it would be too awkward to become a couple."
"Do we know that child?" Grandpa Qin put down his chopsticks, no longer eating: "If we do, I can help you ask for their contact information, at least you can be friends first."
"Oh right, is he an omega or a beta?" Nan Yu also followed up on Grandpa Qin's words to ask Qin Yao.
"Are you checking his household registration?" Qin Yao, still not full, picked up his chopsticks and continued to eat: "He's very handsome, but there's no way we can be together, don't imagine things."
"Why not?" Grandpa Qin looked disappointed, like a child who didn't get candy: "Opportunities are there for you to seize, how do you know unless you try?"
"Dad's right." This time Nan Yu agreed with Grandpa Qin. It was rare to find a child who could make Qin Yao sleep well, so they should try to get to know him.
"Is he an omega?" Nan Yu asked: "Is his family very protective of him?"
Qin Yao shook his head: "He's a beta."
The two who asked the questions had a look of excitement on their faces, only to be shut down by Qin Yao's words.
"Don't think about it, he won't want to have a relationship." Qin Yao said seriously, and the others didn't ask anything further.
Everyone continued eating dinner. Towards the end of the meal, Nan Yu suddenly raised his head and narrowed his eyes as he looked at his big son: "What about you then? Don't you want to?"
Qin Yao was taken aback for a moment, then wryly smiled: "Dad, he and I really can't be together."
Qin Wei put down his chopsticks and stood up, tapping the table next to Qin Yao: "Come to my study later."
"Okay." Qin Yao nodded, burying his head to bite on a chicken leg. He looked at his dad with a smile: "Yes, I don't want to either."
Nan Yu sighed, not saying anything more.
...
Mr. Qin was very busy, but he would come home for meals every day, occasionally even cooking. He would bring unfinished work back home to continue working on, and despite the fatigue, he had never changed this habit of coming home for meals in the past twenty years.
Qin Yao carried the fruit prepared by his dad and went upstairs. He stood in front of the study door and knocked: "Dad, it's me, bringing you some warmth."
A voice called him in, and Qin Yao pushed open the door, placed the fruit by his dad's desk, and then leaned against the desk without leaving: "I was ambushed by the Guan family, but I didn't lose, Guan Jiaye broke a leg."
Mr. Qin lifted his eyelids and looked at him: "How's the injury?"
"It's fine." Qin Yao smiled: "Your son doesn't get the short end of the stick, don't worry."
Mr. Qin nodded, flipping through the documents, then asked again: "How do you feel about the person who picked you up?"
Qin Yao chuckled: "Mr. Qin, you're gossiping too?" He laughed as he took some fruit from the plate to eat: "Let me put it this way, I'm grateful to him, but that's it, he and I really can't be together."
Qin Yao didn't know why he was so certain about this. He just felt that there was no possibility between him and Bai He.
From the time Bai He entered school until now, everyone on campus knew he was a learning freak. He wouldn't participate in anything related to love, and although Bai He had always been the top student and was given the title of a genius, it was clear to anyone with eyes that he had earned it through sheer hard work and dedication.
Bai He couldn't possibly spend time on romance, absolutely not.
As for himself...
Qin Yao seriously examined his own heart and concluded that he didn't have much interest in romance either at the moment. He had no dating experience and didn't think he would make a very competent lover, nor did he want to bring any trouble to the other party, so it was just better this way.
Leaving Mr. Qin's room, Qin Yao went back to his own room to rest. After leaving Bai He, he had insomnia again that night.
The next day, Bai He dug out his old phone and logged in to his account. His phone had been smashed by the Guan family that day, and as a return gift, he had knocked out two of their teeth, so it wasn't a bad deal.
After logging back in, his phone received a lot of messages. Qin Yao went through them one by one while getting a glass of water, and just happened to come across the message Zhang Wenyi had sent him the day before.
Qin Yao raised his eyes and made eye contact with his dad sitting at the bar counter. He put down his phone, feeling guilty: "Good morning, Dad."
Nan Yu got down from the high stool and, in a few steps, came in front of Qin Yao.
Nan Yu was an omega, and Qin Yao had grown much taller than his dad, now standing at 1.87 meters as an alpha. At the moment, he shrank like a quail, covering his head and yelling: "Don't hit my face!!"
Nan Yu grabbed Qin Yao's ear with one hand, hoarsely demanding: "Have your injuries healed?"
Qin Yao was taken aback: "Did Mr. Qin sell me out?"
"He was on my side all along!" Nan Yu gritted his teeth, his eyes reddening. Qin Yao immediately felt guilty and actively apologized: "Dad, I was wrong! I'll never do it again!"
Qin Wei, dressed in a suit, came down the stairs, carrying the yawning Qin Dian Dian in his arms. Seeing them, Qin Yao called out for help: "Mr. Qin, please pacify Dad!"
Mr. Qin walked over, put Dian Dian down, and then leaned in to kiss Nan Yu on the cheek, before standing up straight and giving Qin Yao a cold look: "It's useless."
Qin Yao, who had been force-fed dog food in the early morning: ...
Nan Yu picked up Dian Dian, and he and Mr. Qin went to have breakfast together. At this time, Grandpa Qin had already gone out for a walk, and Qin Yao stood there, amused by this family.
When going to school for the third and fourth periods, Qin Yao arrived just in time and found Professor Yan standing on the podium, hands on his hips and raising his eyebrows at him.
Qin Yao was not the least bit flustered, calmly and composedly sitting down next to Zhang Wenyi, and heard Professor Yan on the podium say: "Today we'll still have reverse sign-in, students, be careful not to mistakenly sign in, okay?"
The ambushed Qin Yao: ...
The afternoon class was an elective, a large class in the main teaching building. Qin Yao and the ever-chattering Zhang Wenyi rushed to the classroom, and the lecturer had already arrived, from the Department of Ideological and Political Education.
"What did you do yesterday? I sent you a message but you didn't see it?" Zhang Wenyi was babbling as he swiped on the campus forum, suddenly going silent. Qin Yao, who had shielded his voice, opened his eyes and looked at him.
"Shit..." Zhang Wenyi stared at the post on his phone, and after reading it, he raised his head: "That Bai He from the Department of Ideological and Political Education fell from the second floor yesterday and broke his leg! They brought a stretcher to carry him to the hospital!"
Qin Yao frowned at this news: "What did you say?"
